BC materials transforms excavated earth of construction sites into building materials.


As a first step, building requires the extraction of earth on site, which is hard to stock and challenging to transport. Belgium for example excavates around 37 million tons per year, and 70% of it is being dumped or landfilled as waste. Building in itself is one of the most polluting human activities, being responsible for 30% of carbon emissions, air pollution, material resource use, and 75% of total waste production, while only bringing in an estimated 4% of GDP.


BC materials wants to help contractors, architects and clients to achieve their climate targets, and improve the indoor living quality of their projects. We transform pure earth of construction sites to local building materials such as clay plasters, compressed earth blocks and rammed earth for walls and floors. These products are circular, carbon neutral, healthy and possess minimal grey energy.


We have our factory hall in Brussels, where we produce stock. But we can also work on your site, thanks to our mobile and flexible production unit. In this way, the logistics and the infrastructure of BC Materials always stays near the resources: transport is reduced to an absolute minimum.





Earth is a local resource that does not need fossil fuel based or energy intensive processes to transform into building materials.




Our building materials can be reused infinitely. They do not change chemically while being processed, and at the end of their life cycle, they are no-waste, biodegradable or reusable, upon your preference. On top of that we source them out of local excavations at construction sites (and not out of quarries), in order to reduce transport and limit the depletion of resources.

Earth based materials improve indoor air quality and offers an unparalleled climate comfort. They reduce noise, they generate warmth and cooling effects in winter and summer, they minimize the need for ventilation by buffering humidity and neutralizing odors. They are natural, non-toxic, emit no VOC’s or other toxic materials. They’re antistatic and mitigate radiation. In short, earth is a uniquely healthy building material!



Our resources are tested on pollution by an independent lab according to the most stringent norms in Belgium. Hence, we work with undisturbed, unpolluted, primary geological layers of earth, just like a quarry.


However, these resources are coming from construction sites and are heterogenous. BC materials mixes earths from different sites and geological layers to achieve a reformulation (the “recipe”) for durable and performant building materials.


Esher is a certification institute specialized in soil pollution. They’re active in Brussels & Flanders, they analyze the soils, and inform on the regulations of excavation soils.

Het laboratorium géomécanique (BATir, ULB) is specialized in soil analysis. They characterize the different soils that BC materials uses.

Techno Campus Gent (KUL) tests the different samples with reformulated earth based materials.

Het laboratorium CRAterre (ENSA Grenoble) is doing research in earth building since 1970. As of today, they are the worldwide reference in earth construction and are official mentors for BC materials.
