Negenoord
The 12 meter high watchtower in the Parc of Negenoord was constructed with a blend of gravels and earths from the Maas valley and built from rammed earth.
During the rammed earth works the contractor faced some challenges and engaged BC to deliver earth consultancy during construction. The mix was reformulated to improve its strength and contractors were trained in mixing, maintaining the right humidity in the mix, building formwork and ramming. Each week the field testing of humidity levels and laboratory testing of compression force on samples were completed to monitor the quality.
